B+K were visiting Oregon from out of state, making the most of a coast-hopping day trip packed with classic Pacific Northwest vibes. They had dinner reservations that night and were all dressed up, but decided to “swing by” Cannon Beach quickly since they hadn’t hit it yet. (Spoiler alert: not actually a casual stop.) Meanwhile, I was already on the beach, camera ready, doing my best “just reading a book on the beach” impression. Right in front of Haystack Rock—one of the most iconic Oregon coast views—B dropped to one knee, and she said yes! I love proposals and whether you want it to stay a surprise or want me to incorporate into an already booked session, I’m all in.

A few minutes later, when K thought the surprises were over, her sister and brother-in-law walked up holding a hand-embroidered banner to celebrate. We wandered the beach for a few quick portraits in that glowy coastal light, then they headed off to their real dinner as newly engaged fiancés. Not bad for a “quick stop!”
