Alaska Glacier Elopement | Matanuska Glacier

E+K’s Alaska glacier elopement began slowly, intentionally, and was surrounded by wild beauty. Their Airbnb in Glacier View was tucked right into the heart of the Alaskan wilderness, with towering evergreens outside and light spilling through the cabin windows. It was a perfectly peaceful morning.

They spent the morning getting ready separately. E’s dress was a flowing, floral masterpiece from Orainda’s Bridal. Paired with her veil, accessories, and a trusty pair of hiking boots, she was the perfect mix of grace and “ready for adventure.”

Their first look happened outside on the cabin’s wooden deck, surrounded by blooming wildflowers. It was the perfect prelude to an unforgettable day of exploring glaciers, flying over mountains, and falling in love in one of the most breathtaking places on Earth.

The Helicopter Adventure to Matanuska Glacier

After a quiet morning, it was time for the real adventure to begin. E+K, ready in their hiking boots, packed up their vow books and bouquet, and made their way to the helipad.

They looked so cool standing next to a bright red helicopter in their wedding attire. Once the headsets were on and the rotors started spinning, the excitement really set in. We lifted off the ground and soared over Alaska’s wild terrain. The flight was short but incredible—endless mountains, winding rivers, and that surreal, electric blue ice below. When we landed on the glacier, it felt like we’d just stepped onto another planet.

Once they strapped on their microspikes, they set off hand in hand, weaving through icy ridges and glacial streams. This was the perfect mix of adventure and intimacy that defines an Alaska glacier elopement. E+K thrive in this environment. They are travelers, hikers, and seekers of the wild and unexpected.

Glacier Vows, Epic Backdrops, & Dream Elopement Timeline

If there was ever a definition of epic elopement ceremony, this was it. After exploring the glacier, we found a quiet pocket between towering blue ice walls. To reach it, they had to carefully step through a shallow stream of glacier water. It was daring and cold, but completely worth it. This was their altar. Afterward, their guide led them to a hidden glacial waterfall. It was such an EPIC backdrop for portraits!

This entire day was the perfect example of what an 8-hour adventure elopement in Alaska can be—immersive, meaningful, and full of time to explore without ever feeling rushed. For couples dreaming of an even deeper experience, this could easily stretch into a 10-hour day, ending with a sunset or evening portrait session back at the base of the mountains.

E+K’s day captured who they are and what they love most: exploring wild, untamed places together. Their Alaska glacier elopement was a story of connection, courage, and the kind of love that thrives in the heart of the wilderness.
