It was a calm, overcast morning at Salted Roots Cabins, the perfect setting for H+T to start their Alaska elopement day. They eased into their day slowly, intentionally, and completely together. The light drifted in through the cabin windows while they completed their pre-ceremony routine.
H slipped into her gown from Orainda’s Bridal, and T helped with her boots. Boots with a wedding dress in Alaska is the epitome of practicality and peak romance. Once they were ready, they stepped out into the misty forest, following Salted Roots’ winding little trail under arching driftwood and fireweed flowers. The trees opened up to the rocky shoreline, mountains in the backdrop.

Their Salted Roots Cabins Ceremony & Portraits
Their ceremony was simple, just the two of them, holding hands, speaking the vows they had written that morning. You could hear nothing but the water and their voices. After they exchanged rings and a kiss, we wandered along the beach for portraits. They stopped to sit together in the Adirondack chairs facing the mountains to take it all in for a moment.
From there, we headed up the hill to the fireweed fields. Once we made our way back to the cabin, it was time for celebration. They popped a bottle in the woods—sparkling water, but with the chaos and enthusiasm of champagne. Then they cut into a small fruit tart. Alaska makes an elopement feel like a real adventure, even in the quiet moments.

Make It an Alaska Adventure Wedding Elopement
One of my favorite things about eloping in Alaska is how easily you can turn your wedding day into a full-on experience. If you want to keep things simple and intimate, you absolutely can. But if you’re dreaming about adding a little extra “wow,” Alaska is built for that.
Here are a few ways couples love to turn their elopement into something special:
• Take a heli tour to an iceberg lake
Landing beside bright blue water with icebergs drifting around you feels otherworldly. Some couples even get kayaks and paddle right through the ice—it doesn’t get more epic than that.
• Hop on a Kenai Fjords wildlife cruise
This is, hands down, one of the best ways to experience Seward. You might see orcas, humpbacks, puffins, seals, and the most adorable sea otters.
• Hike to a glacier overlook or wander the coastline
Whether you want a quick, scenic trail or a longer trek with big payoff views, there’s no shortage of options. Tidepooling at low tide or taking a floatplane ride are also amazing additions for couples who want variety.
H + T saved their big adventure for the next morning. They hopped on a wildlife cruise through the fjords to see towering glaciers, open water, and so many marine animals. Whether your version of adventure is a helicopter tour, a boat trip, or simply wandering through wildlife, Alaska gives you the freedom to build an elopement day that feels big, small, quiet, thrilling, or a mix of all of it.
