When R first told me she wanted her fall mountain engagement photos to feel like a full-on Gilmore Girls autumn special, I just about screamed. She and Z fell in love with my fall session from last year and wanted just that.

We arrived at Mount Rainier during peak fall glory. The meadows were absolutely glowing, the huckleberry bushes were on fire with reds and oranges, and the kind of golden light you can’t Photoshop was pouring over everything. The air had that perfect PNW crispness. As soon as we stepped onto the Myrtle Falls Trail, it was like fall was dialed up to eleven—unreal color and views.

Exploring Mount Rainier for Fall Mountain Engagement Photos

Once we got moving along the trail, the whole session turned into a cozy little adventure. We wandered toward Myrtle Falls, stopping every few minutes because, well… how do you not? R + Z were having a great time together. We got the snuggles, laughs, and of course, the “big landscape, tiny people” shots—my personal favorite. Just two adventurous little dots against this massive, glowing mountain.

As the sun began to set, we got to witness a dreamy fall twilight. Then, we brought out the lanterns. And we got a full moon treat. It was the perfect ending to a perfect fall adventure.

Straight From the Source

“Wow, Mattie is incredible. She absolutely crushed our photoshoot at Mt Rainier. We got peak fall foliage, and a full moon on top of that! My fiancé and I ended up being so late, but she was very kind and understanding. Planning with her has been easy and straightforward. I would love to book her for future shoots, and I would recommend her for anyone and everyone.”

Hey friends. I’m Mattie, your friendly neighborhood Pacific Northwest adventure elopement and engagement photographer—Portland metro based, mountain-obsessed, and always down for a good trail wander. I live for sessions with big landscapes, cozy jackets, and crisp air.

My approach is pretty simple: be intentional, tell your story, and make it feel like you. I love warm, candid moments, natural connections, and documenting all the little things. But I’m also the person who will happily hike at sunrise, chase alpenglow, or break out lanterns under the stars if it means creating something beautiful together.

So if you’re dreaming up your own Mount Rainier adventure, or you’re craving that PNW mountain energy for your engagement or elopement photos, I’m your gal. Click here to connect. And while I have your attention, go check out these sunset couple pictures in the Columbia River Gorge!
