Ecola State Park Viewpoint Elopement

Imagine traveling across the country to say your vows surrounded by the beauty of the Oregon Coast. That’s exactly what A+B did. These two packed their adventurous spirit and made the trek from North Carolina to elope at the stunning Ecola State Park and Cannon Beach. They told me they loved how I mix artistic shots with timeless portraits, and I couldn’t have been more excited to capture their day. A+B’s relationship is all about exploring new places, enjoying the scenery, and trying new restaurants together, so their choice to tie the knot here felt perfect.

Vows at Ecola State Park Viewpoint

We kicked off their day at the Hallmark Resort. A’s bridal bouquet from Little Moon Floral was gorgeous! It was such a unique, moody bouquet that matched the forest. I captured all the little details while they got ready for their adventure, and then we headed to Ecola Point Viewpoint for their ceremony.

If you haven’t been to Ecola State Park, it’s a must. The towering cliffs, sweeping ocean views, and salty air make you feel alive. Their ceremony was intimate, with just the two of them (plus me, their lucky third wheel) and the waves crashing below.

Pro Tip:

Cannon Beach is just a short drive from Portland, which means access to top-tier vendors who know how to handle beach elopements. Whether it’s florals, bakers, or make up artists- I’m happy to send over recommendations!!

Post Ecola State Park Ceremony: Indian Beach & Forest Portraits

After their vows, A+B took a peaceful stroll along Indian Beach, letting the joy of their day truly sink in. Next, we ventured into the lush forest for portraits. The towering evergreens and soft moss made the setting feel much like a fairytale. The PNW never fails to create the perfect backdrop.

Cannon Beach Celebration

To finish their incredible day, A+B had their first dance on Cannon Beach, surrounded by the soft glow of golden hour. The sparkling water “champagne pop” (shoutout to Leave No Trace principles!) added a playful touch.

And then came the sunset—I can’t even explain how EPIC this was. You’ll just have to see for yourself. I couldn’t have chosen a more dreamy, romantic vibe for the moment. As the evening wrapped up, they brought out lanterns for some final shots, walking hand-in-hand along the beach. It was a flawless, peaceful ending to a truly unforgettable day.

A Love Letter from A+B

“We had the BEST day with Mattie, she made our elopement so special and fun and comfortable. I actually told my husband(!) in the car after our first stop that I was having so much fun I didn’t even care if the pictures were good, but fortunately, they’re gorgeous and so much better than I ever expected. I’m so excited to display them in our home! Literally, I cannot believe these are our pictures; they look like art.

Mattie was incredible; I really can’t compliment her enough. She was responsive and easy to get ahold of during the planning process, she was super prepared and took extra steps to save time and ensure our day went smoothly, our timeline worked exactly as planned, no notes!”

Planning Your Oregon Coast Elopement | Before Our Eyes Photography

Before you grab your partner and run off into the sunset, you should know a few things to ensure your day goes as smoothly as possible.

Leave No Trace principles.

Keeping the environment squeaky clean is a small but powerful way to show love to the coast you’re celebrating on.

Timing Tips

Timing is everything—especially on the coast. Spring and fall are the sweet spots, offering lush greenery, manageable crowds, and that dreamy, misty vibe the Oregon Coast is famous for. And there’s a good chance you can catch some soft morning light or the vibrant sunset shades.

Packing Essentials

The Oregon Coast is stunning, but it’s also unpredictable. Make sure to pack:

  • Sturdy shoes
  • Cozy layers
  • Snacks and water
