Late October on the Oregon coast? Sign me up. It’s the kind of weather where the sky gives you a little bit of everything—some sun, a little mist; it just depends on the day and always keeps things interesting. And for B + J, two people who love traveling, trying new restaurants, and cozying up for a good movie night, it was the perfect location for their Oregon beach elopement photos.

Their day was intimate, intentional, and full of love—just them, their closest people, and a good ol’ Oregon Coast sunset. From emotional first looks to golden hour portraits and dancing on the beach at blue hour, it was everything an elopement should be.

A First Look at Elk Flats & Arcadia Beach Elopement Ceremony

B kicked off the day by getting ready at the Airbnb. But before heading to see J, there was one first look that couldn’t be skipped: B’s dad. If you’re someone who cries at movie trailers, you wouldn’t have made it through this moment with dry eyes. Then it was off to Elk Flats for the real deal—B + J’s first look. It was an emotional, beautiful moment that made eloping feel so special.

With their closest family and friends gathered at Arcadia Beach, B + J made it official. After the ceremony, we chased that perfect golden hour light for portraits, and wow, did the coast deliver.

First Dance & Blue Hour Lantern Portraits

After the last toast was made and the sun started setting, B + J had their first dance on the sand. But the night wasn’t over yet. We brought out the lanterns as blue hour set in (aka the coolest, moodiest lighting of the day). There’s something about soft, flickering light against a deep blue sky that just hits. It gave their final portraits this quiet, intimate, almost cinematic vibe—like the perfect ending to a story just starting.

Tips for Your Oregon Beach Elopement Photos Near Cannon Beach

Are you thinking about eloping near Cannon Beach? Solid choice. It has epic cliffs, sandy beaches, and a perfect mix of moody and magical lighting. But before you start planning, here are a few things to keep in mind:

Best Time of Year

October is great if you want that golden, glowy, fewer-tourists-around vibe. The summer crowds have cleared, the light is a dream, and you get dramatic skies without freezing your face off.

Logistics: Permits & Planning

Yes, you technically need a permit for a beach ceremony in Oregon. (Don’t worry, it’s not as scary as it sounds.) The process is simple and keeps things running smoothly, so you don’t have any surprises. Also, keep an eye on the tide charts! You don’t want to set up a dreamy ceremony spot to have it washed away.

Best Portrait Locations

Cannon Beach is great, but if you want something a little more unique, check out Arcadia Beach (less crowded, with stunning views) or Elk Flats (coastal cliffs, forest trails, epic overlook views). There are also many hidden gems if you’re down for some adventure.

Coastal Weather: Expect the Unexpected

The Oregon coast plays by its own rules. One minute, it’s all soft golden light; the next, it’s misty and overcast. The key is to embrace it. Cloudy skies make for the dreamiest photos; a little wind is just free hair movement for those cinematic shots.
